This is a level that is slightly harder than my other levels (I think). It ends with a boss (Demo's sister Pandamona) and a leek. There is no secret exit.

Judging

Approved with changes. The fact that the lightning is solid creates some pretty significant bugs, because often times the lightning will activate while Demo is in that space, and that glitched me out into a pit multiple times. Also, there's a problem with that first Sparky in the room; if Demo enters the room at the wrong time, that Sparky can be caught continuously trying to climb the lightning, basically putting it in a loop that forces the player to tank a hit. Both bugs are fixed if you can find a way to use a damaging, stationary NPC for the lightning layers and set special flags for it that allow npcs through. Also, the random Pokey and Snifit are kind of ridiculously out of place and don't really add anything to the level. I'd say try to find something else to put in that spot. Other than that, a well-designed level. Good job! Also, if the other judges don't find the bugging out with the lightning layers to be a significant problem, I'll change my vote to approved as well. It could just be me nitpicking. ~Cjn14

  • Thank you for the review. I would also have liked using stationary NPCs, but I don't think I can. For example, there's no tag to make them impervious to hammers or make it so they hurt the player when spin jumped on. Also, only a few NPCs follow layer movement. However, I'll check out which lightnings can cause the player to fall in a pit and I'll try to mitigate the problem. Also, I'll move the sparky and replace the pokey and snifit.   • You could use the position 0 firebar fireball, that's unaffected by any of Demo's powerups. Although, you'd have to mess around with resizing the enemy hitbox and graphic size using flags and I'm not all that sure on how exactly that works. If you can work around the bugs, though, that works too! ~Cjn14
  • I did manage to fix the problem by adding conveyor belts at the extremities of the horizontal lightnings (somehow this stops player movement through blocks). I've moved the sparky and replaced the pokey by thwomps. About the snifit, I noticed that its graphics have been changed for some sort of robot spider kind of guy (more appropriate for the theme of the level), so I think I can leave it there. Neat level. Approved by me as far as I'm concerned. The only thing that bothered me was the amount of trouble I had trying to get past the atomic waffles, and that sometimes you can glitch death from electricity (but that doesn't happen often). But yeah, approved by me.
